Schools for the Future (SFF)
Receptionist
Responsibilities:
• Answer phones promptly and professionally
• Route calls to correct department/staff member
• Record and relay accurate messages
• Greet and direct guests
• Ensure all visitors have escorts or visitor passes
• Become knowledgeable of all staff names, titles, departments and extension numbers
• Program familiarization in order to provide information and answer general questions
• Possess efficiency with phone equipment, copier and fax machine; keep paper supply full, daily
• Responsible for maintaining accuracy of daily in/out staff board
• Recognize and report any problems to the appropriate person
• Maintain clean, neat & orderly appearance at front entrance
• Assist with clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist with special events, meetings, projects as assigned
• Water plants weekly
• Attend all required training
• Ensure safety of the of the program and youth by monitoring who comes in and out using the appropriate sign in and out policy
• Call for assistance at any sign of a problem with students, parents, guests or staff
Qualifications:
• Minimum - High school diploma
• Clean, neat appearance
• Phone etiquette and pleasant phone voice
• Proper grammar
• Detailed oriented
• Excellent memory
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, versatile and flexible
• Willingness to stay in confined area
• Comply with Duval County Public School policy and procedures
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Ability to deal with difficult customers
• Ability to pass all background screenings including DCPS screening
Reports to: School Principal, Dr. Marilyn Myers
Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 2pm
Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday 9am – 2pm
Pay: $10 per hour

Youth Development Specialist:
One full-time opening to work in Schools for the Future (SFF) as youth development specialists (YDS). The YDS works directly with individual students and facilitate groups and assesses and refers students to appropriate community mental health services when appropriate. You will be a part of a team led by a MSW.
Responsibilities:
• Implementing on-site group social emotional educational groups
• Implementing on-site units and strategies related to problem-solving/study skills, career development, and self-efficacy
• Collaborating with teachers in order to increase that program’s capacity to effectively support students
• Consulting with parents regarding student support strategies
• Providing behavior management support
• Assisting in the parent workshop coordination
• Providing home visits to gain more insight of challenges
• Works with agencies to facilitate case coordination and information sharing
The SFF students will include those with special education plans and associated learning and social emotional issues.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Demonstrates uncompromising ethics and personal integrity by adhering to the highest standards of ethical behavior
• Demonstrates team spirit and initiative to improve the quality of the decision-making process.
• Understands the maturational development of adolescents and associated principles of youth development.
• Effectively assesses the psycho-educational needs of students, family, and support systems.
• Demonstrates the ability to increase the awareness of existing community resources to SFF students, families, and mentors.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively advocate for students.
• Gives and receives constructive feedback appropriately.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field,
• Experience working with at-risk youth
• Organized and detail oriented
• Familiar with the basic concepts of positive youth development, motivational interviews, and strengths based prevention/intervention theory and practice
• Experience in community-based mental health, family health/mental health, and/or education settings desirable;
• Experience with working in diverse communities, and sensitivity to/awareness of the needs of culturally diverse urban adolescents and families;
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
• Strong abilities in documentation and written communications;
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
• Familiarity with group theory and experience leading psycho-educational groups for adolescents
• Experience with providing teacher consultations
Hours: Full-time
Salary Range: $35,000 - $40,000
